This Privacy Policy describes how Mise ("we", "us", "the app") handles your information when you use our mobile application.
Summary (the short version)
- We don't collect personal information. No account required, no email, no name, no sign-in.
- Your kitchen stays on your device. The items in your pantry are stored locally and never uploaded to our servers.
- What you say or type is used only to find recipes. When you add items by voice or text, that text is sent securely to our recipe engine to generate suggestions, and is not stored by us afterward.
- We don't use advertising IDs, third-party trackers, or cross-app tracking.
What information Mise accesses
Microphone & Speech Recognition
If you add items by voice, Mise uses your device's microphone and Apple's Speech Recognition to turn your speech into text. Audio is transcribed to text (by Apple's on-device/standard speech services) and is not recorded or stored by us. You can use Mise entirely by typing instead — voice is optional.
Pantry items (stored locally)
The items in your kitchen are stored locally on your device. This data:
- Never leaves your device except as described below to generate recipes
- Is not synced to any cloud account
- Is deleted when you uninstall the app
Recipe generation
To suggest recipes and to understand items you add, Mise sends the relevant text (for example, "chicken, rice, two eggs") to our recipe service, which uses the Anthropic (Claude) API to generate suggestions. These requests:
- Contain only the ingredient/recipe text needed for the request
- Do not include your name, email, account, device advertising identifier, or any identifier tied to you
- Are not stored or logged by us after the response is returned
